Things to See & Do
Walking / Cycling
 |
The countryside around Cromleach
Lodge is excellent for the walking or cycling enthusiast. Quiet
country roads take you through some spectacular unspoiled scenery
and to the numerous archaeological sites in the area. Many of
the marked walking trails are through fields and woodland. Maps

also available if required.

Touring
 |
Cromleach Lodge is
an ideal centre from which to tour Sligo and the north west region.
A touring guide of Sligo is available. This is made up of six driving/cycling
tours covering the entire county (including a tour of Yeats' country)
and a walking tour of Sligo City. Each tour has options for short
walks along a wide variety of trails - from empty stretches of beach
to secluded lakeshore woodlands.

Fishing / Boating
|
Cromleach's proximity to Lough Arrow
offers visitors the opportunity of fishing or boating (with or without
a ghillie). Boats with outboard motors are available. Lough Arrow
is a well-known brown trout lake with great fly fishing from April
to September. There are also numerous smaller lakes and rivers locally.
Salmon fishing on Lough Gill, River Easky & Ballisodare Weir can
also be arranged. Sea fishing from Rosses Point or Mullaghmore provides
excellent sport for the deep-sea angler and will be arranged on
request.

Archaeological Sites
There are over 5000
recorded archaeological sites in County Sligo - from one of the
world's oldest (4840 BC) and largest (30 monuments) megalithic cemeteries
at Carrowmore to the famine graveyard at Strandhill. Many of these
are easily accessible and within easy driving distance of Cromleach
Lodge. In fact the largest portal dolmen in Ireland (The Labby)
is situated on the hotel lands along one of the walking trails.
The booklet "Archaeology in County Sligo" is available at the hotel.

Yeats' Country
 |
William
Butler Yeats, one of Ireland's most celebrated poets, spent much
of his early years in County Sligo. In many of his poems he recalls
the special people, times and places he experienced there. In addition
to the better known places associated with Yeats such as the Lake
Isle of Innisfree, Glencar Waterfall, Lissadell House and Drumcliff
Churchyard, the Yeats Tour takes in many other sites associated
with W. B. and his brother Jack Yeats. Details available at hotel.

Horse Riding
Sligo Riding Centre
has an indoor riding arena and also provides horse riding (with

at Strandhill. |
